5:30-6:30 PMRevolutionizing Your Career - Recognizing the PM's Role In SustainabilityJill Going

PowerPoint Presentation

We’ve all seen the eyes of regulation and legislation meet the hands of the project manager.  HIPAA and Sorbanes-Oxley are great examples of these.  Will climate change rise to this level in America?  Or will it flash and burn in our two party system of debate.  Regardless of outcome, the ideas of sustainability are here to stay.  As project managers, we can make a difference.  Our roles have direct action and consequence to positively impact our world.  My presentation identifies that the ideas of sustainability are inherent in project management, and that those PM’s who excel in capitalizing on these ideas to make change will grow their sustainability careers.

The PMO Dissected: What Makes It Tick?Sharon Sikes

PowePoint Presentation

Many agencies have recognized a need to improve their project management, and have implemented a Project Management Office (PMO).  All PMO implementations, however, are not equal.  An effective PMO, aligned with the organization’s strategic goals, is a powerful tool to make project team members and management alike successful.  When an effective PMO is combined with best practices for program management and portfolio management, the teams can be even more powerful. This presentation will explain what a PMO is and is not; what makes a PMO effective and why it is important; discuss best practices and how to make your PMO second nature to your staff.

Parking will be validated as long as you park in the "7th and Pike" Garage, which is under the Hyatt Grand Hotel.  Entrance to the garage is on either 7th or 8th.  Valet parking is not included. **If possible, please consider taking the bus to Westlake Station or Convention Center Station.
